Hi, my name is Ryan Hensley. I am a Boston based creative editor originally from Oak Ridge, TN (yes we glow in the dark thanks to the Manhattan Project) and I am a huge Tennessee Vols fan. My wife tells me that it borders on complete obsession. I prefer to think of it as enthusiastic support. However, I share that same enthusiasm for editing and storytelling. This is what drives me to create the best work I can for every project I work on.
My professional career began in 1997 as a Combat Photograhper/Videographer for the United States Marine Corps. From there I had a brief, yet adrenaline filled stint of employment at a news station in a top 20 market. It was at this point in my career that I developed my quick editorial decision making skills and the technical speed to see those quick decisions make air. However, I quickly realized that my heart and soul was not into broadcast news, but more in to creative storytelling. Next, I was hired on to the staff at DNP Studios in Orlando, where I served as their Sr. Editor for four and a half years. The projects at DNP Studios ranged from regional / national commercials to feature films and music videos as well as corporate video. When my wife and I decided to relocate to the Boston area in 2006, I freelanced for about a year. One of my main clients made me an offer I couldn’t refuse, so I began working at Viewpoint Creative in Newton, MA. as one of their Sr. Editors. There I worked closely with motion graphic designers as well as Flame and After Effects artists to create award-winning network promos and movie trailers/teasers.
Flash forward 2 1/2 years and I am now back on the freelance market and recently won an Emmy with Fox Sports for our Live Coverage of MLB’s Postseason Baseball. www.ryanedits.com is the resting place for my editing alter-ego. Please have a look around as there are tons of full length clips in the portfolio section to check out.
Clients with whom I have had the privilege to work with throughout my career include the likes of ABC, Bud Light, Discovery, ESPN, Fox Sports, HBO, MLB, NASCAR and Subway among others. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
