Hi, my name is Ryan Hensley. I am a Los Angeles based creative editor originally from Oak Ridge, TN (yes we glow in the dark thanks to the Manhattan Project) and I am a huge Tennessee Vols fan. My wife tells me that it borders on complete obsession. I prefer to think of it as enthusiastic support. However, I share that same enthusiasm for editing and storytelling. This is what drives me to create the best work I can for every project I work on.
My professional career began in 1997 as a Combat Photograhper / Videographer for the United States Marine Corps. As the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge, I oversaw all productions in my unit from concept to delivery. After the Marines I had a brief, yet adrenaline filled stint of employment as the Sr. Editor at an ABC affiliate in a top 20 news market. It was at this point in my career that I developed my quick editorial decision making skills and the technical speed to see those quick decisions make air. However, I quickly realized that my heart and soul was not into broadcast news, but more in to creative storytelling. Next, I was hired on to the creative staff at DNP Studios in Orlando, where I served as their Sr. Editor for four and a half years. The projects at DNP Studios ranged from regional / national commercials to feature films and music videos as well as corporate video. When my wife and I decided to relocate to the Boston area in 2006, I became a freelance editor for about a year. One of my main clients made me an offer I couldn’t refuse, so I began working full-time again, at Viewpoint Creative in Newton, MA. as one of their two Sr. Editors. At Viewpoint Creative, I worked closely with very talented & creative motion graphic designers and Flame / After Effects artists to create award-winning network promos and movie trailers / teasers.
Flash forward 4 1/2 years and I am now back on the freelance market and ready to work. I now work very closely with Fox Sports shooting and editing for College Football, NASCAR and NFL on FOX. While working with Fox Sports over the last 3 years, I have been a part of two Emmy® award-winning Live Technical Remote Teams for MLB Postseason (2011) and NASCAR on Fox (2013).
A few clients with whom I have had the privilege to work with throughout my career include the likes of ABC, A&E, Bud Light, Discovery, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, ESPN, Fox Sports, HBO, Miller Lite, MLB, NASCAR, Nat Geo, NFL, PBS and Subway among many others. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
